The magic of light for flawless skin

We all know the light from the sun will damage our skin and give us wrinkles.  But what about light that actually may help to heal the damage from the sun?  There is, and it is called medical LED light (light emitting diodes).  Theses lights have not only the power to rejuvenate your skin, but help to heal acne, inflammation, and even wounds.  I love them because they are a non-chemical way to restore the skin, and bring it to a glowing and flawless finish.

When considering LED light therapy, you want to go with a brand that has the most extensive research behind them, and that is Omnilux.  The Omnilux lights are 100x stronger than any other lights on the market, and are exclusively used in medical spas, as well as dermatology offices.  Compared to ineffective handheld versions, these lights use a screen to cover the entire face for 20 minutes. That being said, not all screens have the ample power to create the results that science has proven the omnilux does. Even though there are many lasers we use at the clinic, LED can be a powerful adjunctive therapy for glowing skin.

There are 3 types of LED that have shown substantial clinical efficacy for the skin:

1. Red LED Light

Red is my most frequently used LED light, because it covers a range of different skin problems, primarily anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory.  Because it penetrates so deep, Red LED’s help stimulate the fibroblast cells that in turn stimulate our collagen.  That is what keeps our skin so youthful, and wrinkle free.  Red is also anti-inflammatory, so it is great for redness conditions, as well as calming the skin.

2. Blue LED Light

Blue LED light is fantastic for acne.  It kills the P. acnes bacteria that plays a large role in inflamed acne conditions.  Used in a series of 8 sessions, you can see a dramatic reduction in active acne lesions without the irritation of traditional acne therapies.

3. Near Infrared Light

Also called white lights, the Near Infrared LED’s are great for anti-aging, wound healing, and elasticity.  Used with the Red Lights, these lights can make an anti-aging protocol, about 20% more effective.

Medical LED’s have been around for a while, and for a reason.  Used in a series of 8 treatments, over the course of four weeks, you can have radiant skin, and not to mention, a better mood.  One of the perks is the fact that the lights can be used as an anti-depressant for people suffering from the winter blues.  So, there you have it.  Lay down for 20 minutes, and wake up looking AND feeling better.  That is my cup of tea!
