Oh how we love those award shows. The glamour and beauty draw people by the millions to sit in front of their television and marvel at the fabulous dresses, exquisite jewelry and the sheer Hollywood-ness of it all.

With the Grammy’s behind us and the Oscars ahead of us, it puts many of us in the mood to capture the looks that beckon us to watch.

The stars start preparing for the shows weeks ahead of time. It’s not just about what they wear, it’s also about the skin they are in.

It’s not that difficult to recreate that Red Carpet glow from home. With these basic tips, you can be Red Carpet ready and turn heads in the grocery store.

BODY:
Start with the Clairsonic Body Brush Head. It cleanses and exfoliates the body, smoothing out those dry, rough patches and prepares the skin to better absorb the products you will be using after your Red Carpet shower.

Along with the Body Brush Head, use a body scrub. We recommend sugar or salt exfoliating body scrubs. These act as a buffer which removes the dry, dull layer and exposes the beautiful, shiny, Red Carpet worthy skin that was hiding underneath.

For a couple weeks before an event, consider using a rejuvenating, firming lotion. We adore the any lotions that use glycolic acid, retinol, anti-oxidants and peptides because they leave the skin fresh and younger looking.

Top it off with a self-tanner the day before. One brand we recommend is Pevonia because it uses natural ingredients and created a truer sun kissed color where many may turn you an orangish tone. Orange skin is not flattering on the Red Carpet, or any other carpet, for that matter.

FACE:
To prepare your face in the same fashion as the rest of your body, follow these easy tips.

The Clarsonic Face Brush gently cleanses and exfoliates your face, smoothing it and preparing it for the products that will make you glow.

Super charged masks with acids, purifiers and anti-oxidants. There are so many anti-aging masks on the market. Try a pumpkin mask, hydrating anti-oxidant mask or an acid based mask to refine, smooth and hydrate the skin.

A good hydrating anti-oxidant serum with hyaluronic acid is a must. It’s like a spackel to fill in those fine lines giving the skin a smooth, flawless, young appearance.

Finally, an emollient that is peptide based and a eye cream that has light reflecting pigments to complete the skin care routine specifically tailored to achieve the Red Carpet glamour.

Professional Treatments:

While the at-home treatments are amazing, you still should consider gliding in to visit your esthetician for some professional treatments. Chemical or enzyme peels that resurface the skin are a perfect accompaniment to any treatments you will do at home. Also, an oxygen facial and an LED red light treatment are the perfect fits to any Red Carpet ready look.

The Grand Finale:

After the self-tanner has worn into the skin, now it’s time to put on the make up.

Choose a nice mineral based make up with hydrating spray. The Jane Iredale line is fabulous and has wonderful colors to choose from.

Use a bronzing powder close to your skin tone. Sweep gently, in one motion, from your forehead, to cheek bones to chin on each side of your face, like you are creating the number 3 on your face.

Shimmer highlights on the tip of your nose, cheekbones and brow bones add a little more glow.

Place a shimmer shadow around your eyes. Jane Iredale line has 6 gorgeous shimmer shades.

Viola, you are ready to glam up and hit the Red Carpet alongside the stars. Or, you can be fabulous while watching the award show on your couch. Either way, you will rival the stars and look like a million bucks.
